Bicycle Accident Attorneys in North Carolina
Fighting for the Fair and Just Compensation You Deserve
Bicycle usage has increased in recent years as many individuals have opted for this environmentally friendly mode of transportation to travel to school, the store, work, or other short distances in or around their neighborhood. Unfortunately, many drivers on the road fail to exercise the caution that is necessary to keep these inherently vulnerable individuals safe. In fact, many accidents involving bicyclists often lead to severe, life-altering injuries, or even death. This is why it is particularly crucial for automobile drivers to maintain constant awareness of their surroundings. If you were injured while riding your bicycle due to someone else’s negligent or careless actions, you might be entitled to compensation.
At King Law Firm, our skilled bicycle accident attorneys have been practicing personal injury law for over 30 years and, during that time, have successfully recovered over $50 million in compensation on behalf of our clients.

Bicycle Laws in North Carolina
Under North Carolina law, bicycles are defined as vehicles, which means cyclists are required to obey all vehicle traffic laws, except those that specifically refer to motor vehicles. In 2016, the law was updated to provide more adequate protections for bicyclists. For example, drivers who cause cyclists to leave their lane, or cause a crash, now face monetary fines, depending on the severity of the accident and the resulting damage. The updated laws also require drivers to exercise extra care when passing a cyclist. They must either completely enter the left lane of the road, or maintain a distance of at least 4 feet between their vehicle and the bicyclist.
