Weekly Wage Maximum & Delay in Coverage
In North Carolina, workers’ compensation wage benefits for temporary disabilities will begin only if you suffer a work-related injury or illness that takes you out of the job for seven or more days. At that point, you can begin collecting 66-2/3% of your regular wages, and you may be eligible to receive back benefits for the first seven days that went unpaid. The state has a current – circa 2018 – regulation on workers’ compensation that caps weekly wage benefits to $992. If you were earning a significant salary or hourly wage, you might be surprised by the benefits cap.
